Colonialen Kranen serves modern, relaxed food that focuses on the local and seasonal produce of Norway. The menu changes frequently and draws inspiration from all over the world.

Everyday the kitchen decides a two dish lunch that is served between 11.00-15.00, this can be two dishes from the menu or something totally different! After 15.00, the kitchen decides concept continues, where we serve sharing plates to the middle of the table for everyone to tuck in to!

Colonialen Kranen is open from 8.00 on weekdays, serving eggs & bacon (and more) from 9.00! It´s a beautiful location to stop by for a coffee, kombucha or glass of wine, anytime of the day. Watching the sun come up or go down from inside the crane, is one of Bergens best kept secrets!

The name Kranen translates as The Crane, since the restaurant is located in an old industrial crane.  A pearl within the newly developed area of Solheimsviken, only a 15 min walk fromcentre of Bergen, a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of the centre and stroll around the contemporary architecture of Bergen today. The restaurant in the old crane is a historicalreminder of the previous industrial activity, which today is fused together with modern urban society, as the area has gained a new expression with commercial and residential buildings. With glass walls on all sides, the restaurant offers a magnificent view of the mountains, seafront and the new urban landscape.

FUNCTIONS

In addition to the first floor room, the Crane has a great meeting room in the crane house above. This will be rented out for daytime meetings and used for courses such as Colonialen Wine School in the evening. The room has capacity for 25 guests around a larger board.
