Dear Colonialen guests!

Summer is over and autumn has started to appear at its best, with beautiful late summer weather! We are happy to be able to open up each place little by little. Adapting to the time we are in to the best of our ability and opening up slowly and steadily. Now that Kranen is opening again on 2nd September, all of our places are open with fixed opening hours!

We continue to bring exciting culinary experiences to the table at Kranen! We focus on combining food and wine together, and constantly ask ourselves how can we compliment the food that the kitchen cooks!

Ken and Laila will guide you through the evening and share experiences and knowledge around the topic of food and natural wine. We will taste, explain and discuss several different combinations. We will share our knowledge of why this particular wine style is so very well suited for Kranen’s kitchen.

During the evening we will also confront many questions; What exactly is natural wine? Is it the same as organic wine? Biodynamic wine? Does natural wine always smell like a barn and is it always unfiltered? Why have so many people become so enthusiastic about this style of wine?

Price 1300, – all evening with aperitif, 6 dishes and wine menu!

HEAD CHEF

PABLO ZOTELO

Pablo is originally from Argentina and half of his routes are Italian! He has worked in Norway, Spain and Argentina as a chef and headchef. In 2008 Pablo started working at Engen and he moved to Norway after working in a top restaurant in Spain. We lost him for a few years to Oslo, but luckily he returned! Now he is co-owner, manager and head chef at KRANEN!

MANAGER

EIVIND ØYAN NORÅS

Eivind has worked in the industry for 15 years and is a trained sommelier. At Kranen, he wants guests to have an exciting experience in an informal environment. Quality and knowledge are basic principles, but the main focus is on the social framework around eating. He encourages everyone to try the shared menu with recommended drinks. Food and wine are culture, and at Kranen his desire is to build a unique food and wine experience.

He has previously worked and been the manager of restaurants in Kristiansand, Stavanger and Bergen. In Bergen he has worked at Jacob’s bar & kitchen, Lysverket, Bare 13, Marg & Bein, Allmuen – has probably served everyone in Bergen at one time or another!

FUNCTIONS

In addition to the first floor room, KRANEN has a great meeting room in the crane house above. This will be rented out for daytime meetings and used for courses such as Colonialen Wine School in the evening. The room has capacity for 25 guests around a larger board.
